Research and Clinical Trials

Research is essential to what we do at GCCE. Designated as a National Center for Health Disparities Research by the National Institutes of Health, GCCE focuses is on research that reduces health disparities in outcomes that affect our primary patient population, as well as general scientific and clinical research. Scientists studying cancer causes and treatment from Morehouse School of Medicine and Georgia State University occupy GCCE’s 10 research laboratories. This collaboration allows for discussion between researchers, physicians and specialists so that discoveries can be translated to patient care more quickly.

Clinical trials are an important part of our research. While science is providing more and more insight into the causes of cancer, clinical trials help translate this information into better care for people with cancer. Our patients have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials related to cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
