PGY-2 Critical Care Specialty ResidencyResidents participating in the critical care specialty residency at Grady Health System have a myriad of learning experiences at their disposal, as trauma and critical care have been identified as one of our seven "Centers of Excellence". The university-based environment coupled with exposure to the diverse populations of critically ill patients provides the resident with ample opportunities to develop a clinical knowledge base and skills for successful independent practice. It also imparts an appreciation for the role of the clinical pharmacist specialist in the care of the critically ill. Applicants to the critical care specialty residency must have completed, or be in the process of completing, a PGY-1 pharmacy residency. The decision to continue in a second year of residency training demonstrates the resident's commitment to professional growth and development. That commitment is taken seriously by Grady preceptors, who are full-time clinicians with an expertise in critical care, and are dedicated to assisting the resident through an intensive year of focused training.
