Residency Program Information:

PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program

The opportunities for training in the first year residency program are limitless, as Grady offers a diverse teaching environment that supports a multi-disciplinary approach to care. We are excited about what the program has to offer and are seeking residents who are equally committed and excited about this next step in their professional development. The primary goal of the PGY-1 pharmacy residency is to partner with the resident to develop the clinical knowledge and skills that will ensure future success in either a specialty residency or clinical practice.

    To apply to the PGY-1 pharmacy residency, a letter of interest must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 5, 2008 . Other requirements of application (see list below) must be postmarked by Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2008. These deadlines are necessary for us to evaluate potential candidates in time for on-site interviews before the match deadline. Applicants will not be considered for on-site interviews if these deadlines are not met. Electronic submissions of application materials are not permitted.

    Requirements for application to the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency program:

    General Requirements

    1. Either:
      a) Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy OR
      b) anticipated graduation with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy AND evidence of good academic standing
    2. Personal and leadership qualifications for successful completion of a residency program
    3. Eligibility for licensure in the state of Georgia

    Specific Requirements (deadlines)

    1. A Letter of Interest, postmarked no later than Monday, Jan. 5, 2008 stating why the applicant desires a residency at Grady Health System
    2. The following must be postmarked by Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2008:
      1. Current Curriculum Vitae (include completed and anticipated clinical rotations)
      2. Official undergraduate and pharmacy school transcripts (grades through Dec. 31, 2007)
      3. Four (4) references completed on the Recommendation Request Form. Note: the recommendation form must be completed and should accompany a letter of reference.
        1. Two recommendations must be from clinical faculty who served as a preceptor of the applicant during a clinical rotation
        2. One recommendation must be from a current or recent employer
        3. The fourth recommendation is of the candidate's choice
      4. Residency Questionnaire.

    Information packets will be available for distribution by the ASHP Midyear Clinical meeting in December 2007. On-site interviews will be scheduled in late January and February 2008.
