Triage Center

The Triage Center serves as the primary entry point for non-appointment ambulatory patients who present to Grady Health System for health-care services. Using established guidelines, patients are directed to the appropriate treatment site.

The Triage Center is located on the ground floor, A area, in the main hospital building adjacent to the clinic building atrium. It is operational from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., Monday-Friday and 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.on weekends and holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Triage Center also provides a site for helping new patients access the primary care sites and provides a mechanism for patients to continue their relationship with their primary care physician/provider.

Because of the efforts of Medicaid and other payers to reduce the use of unnecessary and costly emergency room visits for non-emergent problems, the triage nurses work in conjunction with the advice nurses to make sure care is provided in the appropriate site.
