Education

RN Residency Program
A structured nursing residency for RNs who desire to increase competency and grow professionally.

 

Qualifications

  • Newly licensed RN with less than one year of experience
  • An RN returning to the workforce after two or more year's absence from a hospital setting
  • An RN newly transferred into a different specialty

Nurse Extern Program

 

The Nurse Extern Program will begin accepting applications for its spring rotation beginning April 1, 2010. You are required to bring all documentation to the interview process if you are selected. The program will start in June.


Required documentation

  • Complete an online application
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from clinical instructors
  • Submit an official school transcript
  • Official transcript and letters of recommendation are to be submitted at the time of the interview as scheduled by the program coordinator. Please do not mail documents to the hospital.

Nurse Shadow Program
Participants of the Shadow a Nurse Program are required to be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, in their senior year of high school, or former nurses returning to the nursing profession.

 

The shadowing experience allows for observation only.

 

Each shadower must be approved by the Shadow a Nurse Coordinator and are limited to a maximum of 12 shadowing hours.

 

Contact the Nurse Recruiters Office thirty (30) days prior to the anticipated shadowing experience

  • Complete the Shadow a Nurse Program Application
  • Complete the Release and Waiver of Liability
  • Complete the Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Statement
  • Submit a reference from an instructor\advisor\counselor\mentor
  • Receive and wear a visitor ID badge
  • Complete the Evaluation Form at the end of the experience

Nurse Re-Entry Program

 

The Nurse Re-Entry Program is designed for the inactive RN to re-enter nursing practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. Theory courses are held at Kennesaw State University and a 160-hour clinical rotation at Grady Health System.
